The teacher reportedly showed the fifth- and sixth-grade class the video after students asked questions about American right-wing activist Charlie Kirk’s death.
A 海角社区官网District School Board teacher is under investigation after allegedly showing a class of fifth- and sixth-graders a graphic video of American right-wing personality Charlie Kirk being fatally shot in Utah.聽
The incident occurred at Corvette Junior Public School in Scarborough on Thursday.
In a letter to parents and guardians, Principal Jennifer Koptie wrote students were shown the violent video by a teacher who was supervising the class 鈥 but wasn’t the children’s homeroom teacher 鈥 in response to questions about Kirk’s death.聽
“While an investigation must still be conducted to learn all of the details, the report of this incident is extremely troubling and completely unacceptable,” she wrote. “We recognize the seriousness of this matter and have taken immediate steps to follow all appropriate policies and procedures. The teacher has been relieved of all teaching responsibilities pending the outcome of the investigation and will not be at the school.”
Koptie said she will be visiting the class along with a social worker, and the students would have access to social work support.聽
Kirk was fatally shot in the neck while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. A number of graphic videos showing the moment he was shot and his death were circulating online.
Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested Friday on suspicion of aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily harm, and obstruction of justice, all felonies, according to a probable cause statement filed in court.聽
Kirk was a longtime ally of U.S. President Donald Trump and known for his videos that featured his far-right activism or debates where he advocated for conservative ideologies.
