Scarborough—Rouge Park residents are gearing up to cast their votes in the upcoming byelection on Sept. 29.
The vote was prompted by the departure of former Ward 25 Coun. Jennifer McKelvie who relinquished her positions as councillor, chair of council’s infrastructure and environment committee and deputy mayor for Scarborough after winning a seat as the Liberal party’s member of Parliament for Ajax.
Where and when can I vote?
will be available on Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Malvern Recreation Centre and Heron Park Community Recreation Centre.

What do I bring to vote?
To vote, residents must bring identification showing their name and address in Ward 25. Although voter information cards are not a form of identification, voters can bring them to the polls “for a faster experience,” the city says.

Who is eligible to vote?
Residents must be at least 18 years old on election day, be a Canadian citizen and provide proof of identity and address.
Voters must be residents in Ward 25, Scarborough—Rouge Park. Non-residents of the City of º£½ÇÉçÇø¹ÙÍøcan still vote if they or their spouse own or rent property in Scarborough—Rouge Park.

How do I vote by mail?
Residents who wish to vote by mail must send in their voting packages to º£½ÇÉçÇø¹ÙÍøElections by noon on Sept. 23. They can either mail their votes using the postage-paid and preaddressed envelope included in the package, or hand-deliver them to the mail-in voting drop boxes at Malvern Recreation Centre and Heron Park Community Recreation Centre.
Drop boxes will be available from Sept. 15 until noon on Sept. 23.
Who’s running in the byelection?
This year’s byelection comprises hoping to replace McKelvie. The winner will be in office for just one year before the municipal elections in October 2026.
