She was diagnosed with cancer at age 3. Now 11, this girl is taking on the Sporting Life 10K for the camp that changed her life

On May 11, more than 23,000 people are expected to run, walk or roll 10 kilometres down Yonge Street for this charity.

Eleven-year-old Sophie Nirankari will be rolling through Sporting Life 10K in her wheelchair after being diagnosed with cancer at age three, to raise money for the charity that changed her life.


Anima Upadhayay clearly remembers the day her toddler was diagnosed with cancer. For her and her husband, Robinder Sidhu, it was their 鈥渨orst nightmare.鈥

On Dec. 8, 2017, three-year-old Sophie Nirankari was diagnosed with stage four neuroblastoma. The young child鈥檚 body was riddled with 21 tumours; the biggest was about the size of a baseball, rooted right above her right kidney.
