I’m grounded, reliable, generous, relaxed, practical. I’m not much of a thrill-seeker — more of an “appreciate the little things in life” homebody. I am fiercely loyal, level-headed, quietly confident, and never sweat the small stuff. 

I can also be a bit stubborn. I was determined to try growing tomatoes this summer, despite having a terrible black thumb, but so far, so good! 

I have two kids in their twenties. A former production department coordinator, I’m now enjoying a second career since 2019 as an educational assistant. I have a few hidden talents; one is my impeccable handwriting, which everyone always comments on. I would love so much to bring it back. I have a following of kids at school that are already enthusiastic about learning!

I only put energy into things within my control. I’m financially responsible, too; I’ve never paid interest on a credit card, and my credit rating is amazing! I love trying new recipes, and people always rave about my baked goods: decadent coconut cupcakes, buttermilk scones and from-scratch cinnamon buns, to mention a few.

My dating history

I was with my ex from age 20 to 40; we never married. I tried actively dating back in the 2010s, but not much since, mainly due to COVID, and the natural progression of aging, slowing down and being complacent with “dating myself”, along with helping with an elderly mother who is not doing well. So I have not been making dating as much of a priority.

Finding the gems has proven to be an almost impossible task. I need a friends first-approach, and the physical aspect is very secondary — I’m only interested if there is long-term potential — so someone chill and patient is paramount!

What I’m looking for in a relationship

I hope to feel love again before I leave this planet. So far, I have only felt it once. It would be nice to have a supportive partner, someone to do life with: all of the good, the bad and the ugly.

My match will be kind and considerate, intelligent and faithful. I need someone who can roll with the punches and pivot. I would love to connect with someone who also loves the outdoors, the sunshine, picnics, gathering with friends for BBQs. Oh, and I’m on the taller side and not a petite person, so a bigger man over six feet would be ideal.

Distance is probably one of the biggest deal-breakers, as I no longer have a car and I don’t love a long commute, so I’d ideally connect with other folks in the south end of Toronto. I prefer a drug-free partner who is cool to eat everything, too.

Why I’m doing it this way

My kids are older and independent now — and encouraging me to meet people. Some days I feel ready, but other days, I’m quite happy to retreat, stay home, putz around taking care of house responsibilities, and doing what I want when I want.

I wouldn’t say that I am the most excitable person. I am extremely even-keeled, very grounded, and most certainly do not have my head in the clouds or envision some perfect fairytale of an ending.

Dating takes work. But I am willing to put in the work for that special person. Could it be you?
