Taylor Swift is gearing up to begin her next era, 鈥淭he Life of a Showgirl,鈥 and what better way to do that than with a release party.
On Friday at 12:12 p.m. (a nod to her upcoming 12th album), Swift announced 鈥淭he Official Release Party of a Showgirl鈥 鈥 a 90-minute celebration of the album that will play in cinemas from Oct. 3 to 5.
鈥淚 hereby invite you to a *dazzling* soir茅e,鈥 wrote Swift on Instagram, adding that 鈥渄ancing is optional but very much encouraged.鈥
鈥淭he Life of a Showgirl鈥 was written during the Swift鈥檚 record-smashing Eras Tour, and is being released on Oct. 3, just weeks after the singer announced her engagement to NFL player Travis Kelce.
Here, we answer some burning questions.
What will 鈥淭he Official Release Party of a Showgirl鈥 include?
The theatrical event will feature the world premiere of the music video for 鈥淭he Fate of Ophelia,鈥 as well as behind-the-scenes footage.
Fans are speculating that Swift herself has directed the video, given both her past credits as well as a video recently shared by her team showing her back in the director’s chair.
The theatrical event will also include the lyric videos for the songs and 鈥渃ut by cut explanations of what inspired鈥 the new album.
Is the release party coming to Canada?
While tickets have only gone on sale for U.S. theatres so far, Canadian Swifties need not worry.
The release party will be making its way to Cineplex theatres in Canada concurrent with its U.S. release, starting with shows on Friday at 3 p.m. Tickets will go on sale Tuesday.

“The Life of a Showgirl,” Taylor Swift’s 12th album, will be released on Oct. 3.
Republic Records via APWhat do we know about the album?
In an unprecedented appearance on the Kelce brothers鈥 podcast, 鈥淣ew Heights,鈥 Swift announced her upcoming record, 鈥淭he Life of a Showgirl.鈥
This will be her first album made exclusively with producers Max Martin (whom she called her 鈥渕entor鈥 in the podcast) and Shellback, marking her first collaboration with them since 2017鈥檚 鈥淩eputation.鈥 The album鈥檚 title track will feature Sabrina Carpenter.
Swift described the record as a complete 180 from 2024鈥檚 鈥淭he Tortured Poets Department鈥 鈥 another album she conceived during the Eras tour. She said she wanted it to be 鈥渟o focused on quality and on the theme and everything fitting together like a perfect puzzle鈥 鈥 12 songs for her 12th album. She also called it 鈥渢he record I鈥檝e been wanting to make for a very long time.鈥
Song titles like 鈥淭he Fate of Ophelia,鈥 鈥淓lizabeth Taylor鈥 and 鈥淔ather Figure鈥 suggest that Swift is once again weaving rich literary and pop-culture references into her music.
