With just 19 games left in the season, the º£½ÇÉçÇø¹ÙÍøBlue Jays have the best record in the American League and hold a two-game lead over the New York Yankees for first place in the American League East.
Their goal now isn’t to just make the playoffs — the  has the Jays with a 99.9 per cent chance of playing in the post-season — it’s also to avoid the wild-card round and head straight into the AL Division Series.
The Boston Red Sox were the only team among the top five contenders for the AL’s top record to play Monday night and they beat the Oakland A’s 7-0 to move to three games behind the Blue Jays.Â

The Jays open a three-game series at Rogers Centre against the Houston Astros on Tuesday, while the Yankees start a three-game series at home against the Detroit Tigers, who are only percentage points behind º£½ÇÉçÇø¹ÙÍøfor best record in the AL.
