The Blue Jays had an unlikely hero on Friday night as backup outfielder Nathan Lukes came through with a game-winning single in the bottom of the eighth.

Lukes’s timely knock scored George Springer and Daulton Varsho to break a 3-3 tie. It secured a 5-3 victory over the Cleveland Guardians at the Rogers Centre and extended the Jays’ win streak to three games. Just as important, they got back to .500 for the first time in a week at 16-16.
