Judicial recount in now-Liberal riding of Milton East鈥擧alton Hills South to begin next week

After a vote validation process last week, the riding flipped to the Liberal candidate after the Conservative was originally declared the winner.聽

The validation process involves a returning officer examining the record of votes counted at polling stations to catch and correct any data entry or calculation errors in a riding, Elections Canada said.


A judicial recount in the federal riding of Milton East鈥擧alton Hills South is set to begin Tuesday after the vote validation process last week flipped the preliminary Tory win in favour of the Liberals, Elections Canada says.

Preliminary results shortly after the April 28 election showed that Conservative candidate and former MPP Parm Gill had won the riding with 32,186 votes, with Liberal candidate Kristina Tesser Derksen coming in second with 31,888 votes 鈥 a difference of 298 votes.
