A man followed the woman after she got off the bus and stabbed her in an “unprovoked attack” before running away, .听

The woman was stabbed once, according to Peel paramedics, who transported her to a trauma centre. Police say she suffered “near fatal injuries,” but is now in stable听but critical condition.听

Officers are searching for a male suspect who is 5鈥�9鈥�, with a thin build, full beard and short dark hair with a receding hairline. He was seen wearing black pants, a black north face coat, black shoes, black sunglasses, a black backpack, a ring on left hand and white wired earbuds.

Police are asking anyone who sees the suspect not to approach him and to call 9-1-1.听

The man and woman did not know each other, police said, adding that they believe it was a random attack.听

Investigators are reviewing camera footage and are looking to speak with anyone who witnessed an “altercation” between a man and a woman in the area sometime around 6 p.m. or just after.
