Toronto’s spell of muggy, rainy weather is expected to stick around for the next couple of days as a flood “outlook” watershed advisory is in effect until late Wednesday night.Â
But sunnier skies are just on the horizon, with the gloomy clouds clearing up over the weekend and into next week. Temperatures will also be comfortable, hovering around the low to mid 20s until Tuesday.Â
Here’s what to expect, according to the  from Environment Canada.Â
Flooding risk amid rain, stormsÂ
The clouds will stick around throughout Wednesday, accompanied by a constant 60 per cent chance of showers and a thunderstorm risk in the late afternoon and evening. The temperature is expected to hit 21 C, but will feel more like 26 C because of the humidity. There will be a UV index of 4, which is considered moderate.Â
Because of the potential thunderstorms and heavy rain, there is a flood “outlook” statement in effect until 11 p.m. Wednesday evening for rivers and streams in the GTA, according to a  from the º£½ÇÉçÇø¹ÙÍøand Region Conservation Authority.Â
If the forecasted rain does fall, river water levels may rise with stronger and faster flows, particularly in the areas of Vaughan, Richmond Hill and Markham, according to the conservation authority.Â
The conservation authority is warning the public that all shorelines, rivers and streams should be considered dangerous, and heavy rain could also cause overflow in flood plains and low-lying areas that don’t drain well. To stay safe, they are advising people to avoid riverbanks, shorelines and nearby trails, allow extra time for commutes and pay attention to weather forecasts and alerts from Environment Canada.Â
If it does flood, people should never drive, walk or bike through floodwater, as it may be deeper or faster than it appears, the conservation authority said.
On Wednesday evening, the chance of rain and thunderstorms will continue, according to Environment Canada, with a 20 km/h northeastern wind that will slow down as the night progresses. The temperature low is expected to be 18 C.Â
Expect a 40 per cent chance of showers and a thunderstorm risk on Thursday too, with cloudy skies. The temperature will reach 22 C, but the humidity is expected to make it feel more like 27 C. There will be a UV index of 4.Â
In the evening, temperatures will drop to 14 C, with clouds lingering in the skies and a 40 per cent chance of showers.Â
Sunny skies over the weekendÂ
People unhappy with the groggy, rainy weather can look forward to Friday, where the skies will be sunny and the temperature will reach 24 C. At night, the temperature is expected to drop to 12 C, but the skies will remain clear.Â
Those sunny, clear skies will continue to brighten up the weekend, with Saturday seeing a high of 23 C and a low of 13. On Sunday, expect the same with a high of 25 C and a low of 13.Â
Early next week will see the same kind of skies, with a high of 24 C and a low of 12 C on Monday, and a high of 22 C on Tuesday.
