Here’s what you need to know if you’re heading to and from the city this weekend: 

Lakeshore West GO adjustments

Metrolinx is shutting down GO train service along the Lakeshore West line on Saturday and Sunday, with no trains running between Oakville and Exhibition GO stations.

The company cited construction as the reason for the closures, adding that there will also be some late night adjustments on Friday along the six-station stretch.

GO buses will be sent out instead and run between Oakville and Clarkson, and then will go direct from Clarkson to Union Station. No shuttle bus service will be available at Port Credit, Long Branch, Mimico and Exhibition stations. 

Trains will operate normally between West Harbour and Oakville, as well as between Union and Exhibition. 

Metrolinx says the work is part of ongoing efforts to transform Lakeshore West, adding more frequent service seven days a week, 

Line 2 subway closures

The TTC said there will be no service between St. George and Broadview stations until 11 a.m. Sunday for structural repairs. 

Shuttle buses will run in place of the cancelled trains and extra Wheel-Trans buses will also be available for anybody needing them, 

Bay and Sherbourne stations will be fully shut down though all other stations will stay open for riders to load their PRESTO card or connect to buses and streetcars.

Ukrainian Festival

Nearly one million people are expected to descend onto Bloor Street West this weekend for the Ukrainian Festival and Parade which promises food, artists — and plenty of road closures. 

The annual celebration of Ukrainian culture will run between Jane Street and Glendonwynne Road, kicking off Friday at around 5 p.m., stretching to Sunday at 7 p.m. 

Closures begin early at 9 a.m. Friday, with a full shut down of Bloor Street West between Jane Street and Runnymede Road. The street will also be closed from Runnymede Road to Glendonwynne Road. Runnymede Road will stay open for traffic going north and south through Bloor Street West,

The closures will extend from Glendonwynne Road to High Park Avenue for the main parade on Saturday which begins at 11 a.m., in High Park, and finishes at the festival grounds around 12:30 p.m.

Polish Festival

Non-stop live music and plenty of street vendors are what’s promised at the Roncesvalles Polish fest this weekend.

The celebration begins 11 a.m. Saturday on Roncesvalles Avenue, between Dundas Street West and Queen Street West, before closing down 11 p.m. The festival also runs along that west wend stretch 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. 

Roncesvalles Avenue will be closed from 5 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday,

Oasis Zoo Run

is hosting a fun run through the Toronto Zoo Saturday with thousands expected to be running wearing a shirt of this year’s honoured animal, the North Amerian River Otter.

The fun run closures last from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Plug Hat Road between Beare Road and Meadowvale Road, Meadowvale Road from Plug Hat Road and the ramp to Zoo Road, as well as Old Finch Avenue between Meadowvale Road and Reesor Avenue.
