海角社区官网police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a second suspect in the fatal shooting of 23-year-old rapper Shakur Clarke-Sargeant, known in the city鈥檚 rap scene as YTN Paco.
Police were called to the area of in Scarborough for reports of a shooting just after 10:20 p.m. on Sept 15. There, they found Clarke-Sargeant suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses told police that two suspects had been seen fleeing the area prior to first responders鈥 arrival.
Four days later, investigators announced one suspect had been arrested. Jeavon Quashie, 21, is facing one count of first-degree murder.
Quashie, who, according to court documents obtained by the Star, lived in the same neighbourhood where Clarke-Sargeant was killed, made his first court appearance on Sept. 16. He is scheduled to return to court later this week.
Speaking from 海角社区官网police headquarters on Monday, Det. Sgt. Phillip Campbell told reporters that a Canada-wide warrant had been issued for a second suspect, Douvon Ellis, who is also facing one count of first-degree murder. The charges have not been tested in court.
Turning his remarks to Ellis, Campbell urged the 18-year-old to surrender himself to law enforcement.
鈥淒o the right thing,鈥 the detective said. 鈥淪eek counsel and turn yourself in.鈥

海角社区官网Police ServiceWhile investigators were hesitant to share further details surrounding the shooting, Campbell reiterated that investigators believe the shooting was 鈥減lanned and deliberate.鈥
As of Monday, a weapon has yet to be recovered.
When asked if investigators believed Clarke-Sargeant was known to the two accused, or whether the shooting was tied to Toronto’s rap industry, Campbell declined to comment.
鈥淚t’s so early that we really don’t know that answer,鈥 the detective said.

Taking to Instagram in the days after Clarke-Sargeant’s death, rap superstar Drake paid tribute to the late rapper, who he referred to as a brother.
