“The driver stayed behind and was co-operative, there wasn’t a fail to remain scenario,” Staff Sgt. Mike McKeraghan said Sunday morning. “It’s very dark in that area, there’s no overhead lighting, there’s some construction going on.”

The driver told police he believed that the cyclist, after he’d been struck, was run over by at least one other vehicle. Police are interested in speaking to anyone who thinks they may have struck an animal in that area, “so we can get a sequence of events.”

Police are asking for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the cyclist travelling in the area before the collision.

Police believe they know who the victim is and are trying to notify next of kin.
