More fake cash has been found in Canada 鈥 here are clues to help identify it

A new variety of fake toonie has been discovered by numismatists. Here’s how to distinguish it.

Canadian YouTube channel CAD Roll Hunter documented a newly discovered fake toonie in a video post earlier this week. The new fake mimics some of the enhanced security features, including vertical lines and an incused maple leaf on the reverse (tails) side.


Canadians have been warned about a rash of counterfeit currency circulating across the country, including recent reports of fake $100 bills in and large denomination banknotes recently detected in .

But it鈥檚 not just fake bills that are finding their way into Canadians鈥 purses and pockets.
