罢辞谤辞苍迟辞听Sceptres’聽Renata Fast has been named a finalist for league MVP, the first defender to be a contender for the聽PWHL鈥檚 Billie Jean King trophy.
The 30-year-old Burlington resident anchored the Sceptres’ defensive core and tied for the league lead in assists while also finishing in the top three among blueliners in goals, power play goals and shots.聽
Fast averaged more than 24 minutes per game, leading all skaters in total ice time, and was one of the team’s two alternate captains.

“She brings everything,” Sceptres head coach Troy Ryan said prior to the post-season. “She’s a great leader. I guess to sum it up, I think she’s the best (defender) in the world. When we have her on our team, she gives us a chance to win, and I think the cool thing is she’s probably even a better person and a better leader.”聽
Boston’s Hilary Knight (15 goals, 14 assists) and Montr茅al’s Marie-Philip Poulin (19 goals, seven assists) are the other two finalists. It’s Poulin’s second straight nomination.聽
“I don鈥檛 know if there鈥檚 any player in the league that has been as impactful for their team and their organization as Renata has been,鈥 Ryan said earlier in an interview with the Hamilton Spectator.
Fast聽was the league鈥檚 top-scoring blueliner this season and also led the PWHL in power-play assists, hits and minutes.
In addition to the MVP consideration, Fast has also been voted a finalist for the PWHL defender of the year award.聽
Prior to signing with 海角社区官网in 2023, Fast spent time with the Furies of the now-defunct Canadian Women’s Hockey League and represented Canada at the 2018 and 2022 Olympics.聽
Toronto’s Natalie Spooner won the inaugural MVP award after scoring 20 goals in 24 games, including seven on the power play.聽
