Opinion | We are failing our first responders when they are in need

Like so many across this British Columbia, where I live, and across this country, my heart aches. It aches for the lives that were lost and the loved ones they left behind by the Lapu聽Lapu聽Day tragedy on Saturday. It aches for the broader Filipino community, here and abroad.

And it aches, inescapably, for the first responders who showed up to help and sometimes could make a difference and sometimes couldn鈥檛 and whose lives will be irrevocably changed by this awful event.
