CHICAGO (AP) 鈥 U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky announced Monday that she won鈥檛 seek reelection next year after 14 terms, making her the latest longtime Illinois Democrat to announce a retirement from Congress.

鈥淔or the remainder of my term, and beyond, I vow to continue taking every opportunity possible to fight for my community and my country,鈥 Schakowsky, 80, said in a statement. 鈥淚 will do everything in my power to secure equal rights for all, an economy that works for everyone, not just the rich, universal health care, reproductive rights, environmental protections and climate security, and so much more.鈥
