海角社区官网police responded to a call for a collision near听 at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday.
A woman was initially hit by the driver of a white cargo van that was going north up Birchmount Road, 听
The pedestrian was then struck by another vehicle, a dark SUV, that was going south on Birchmount Road, police said.听

Lawrence Clementes and a co-worker had just pulled up to the driveway of his Birchmount Road home at around 9:30 p.m., when he and his colleague saw a woman straddling the yellow dividing line as she walked north on Birchmount, just north of Anaconda Avenue.
鈥淎 lot of vehicles where honking at her while she鈥檚 walking in the middle of the road,鈥 he told the Star on Friday, while standing on his driveway just metres away from a bloodstained section of the roadway where the woman鈥檚 body came to a stop after being struck by two separate vehicles the night before.
His colleague suggested that they call 9-1-1 out of concern for the well-being of the woman. Before they could call for help, Clementes said a white sprinter van travelling northbound in the same lane as the victim, struck the woman.
鈥淚n a snap, it happened,鈥 he said.
He said the driver of the van attempted to swerve away from the pedestrian, but it was too late.

One of the vehicles that struck the pedestrian was a white cargo van, police say.听
海角社区官网Police ServiceAfter being struck by the sprinter van, the victim was propelled about 20 metres before landing in the southbound lanes of Birchmount, said Clementes.
Clementes says that鈥檚 when a southbound dark-coloured SUV struck and ran over the victim.
鈥淲e jumped over to the scene right away and I stopped traffic to let them know someone got hit,鈥 he said.
One of the drivers who stopped at the scene to help identified himself as an off-duty firefighter. Both he and Clementes鈥 colleague rendered first aid, including chest compressions, but the injuries to the persons head and upper body were so severe that Clementes said 鈥渋t was bad, and at first glance I thought this person was not going to make it because of the damage. It was traumatizing to see.鈥
The van did not stop at the scene and neither did the SUV, police said. Emergency responders arrived on the scene about 10 minutes later, Clementes said.
Though 鈥渋t was a really scary situation,鈥 Clementes says his adrenalin was racing in the moment and all he could think about was helping the person.
Mohammed Hossain, who lives a couple houses down from Clementes, showed the Star home video surveillance footage, that was captured around 9:25 p.m., that shows a person walking on the roadway while heading north. You then see a white vehicle heading north moments later.
Hossain, who had left his house around 9:15 p.m., said while he was driving south toward St. Clair Avenue, he saw the person walking north on the roadway.
鈥淚 didn鈥檛 understand why they were walking on the road,鈥 he said. 鈥淰ery bizarre.鈥
Minutes later, his son called him to tell him that there was an accident near their Birchmount home. When he got back home around 11 p.m., he checked the footage and found further evidence of the person walking by his house. He said police had blocked off the road.
