Thunderstorms could hit Toronto on Thursday after the city battled record-setting winds on Tuesday.
Environment Canada is forecasting showers Thursday afternoon before possible thunderstorms roll in as a low pressure system approaches from the southwest. The total rainfall accumulation is supposed to be between five and 10 millimetres.聽
Winds gusting up to 40 kilometres per hour in the morning are forecast to fall to 20 km/h in the afternoon, the agency said, adding that Thursday will bring low, double-digit temperatures around 13 C that curbs storm related risks.
鈥淭here is still the chance of a thunderstorm, but the severe type of thunderstorms that we could have encountered (Tuesday) with large hail, damaging bursts of wind and even the risk of a tornado won鈥檛 be as likely with this next system,鈥 Geoff Coulson, a meteorologist with Environment Canada told the Star on Wednesday.

Tuesday broke and matched city records as one of the warmest, windiest and most humid April days that 海角社区官网has seen in years as intense rain snapped tree branches and sent people running for cover.
The day鈥檚 strongest wind gusts topped out at 103 km/h, making it the windiest April 29 in Toronto鈥檚 recorded history. Temperatures also hit just over 27 C on Tuesday, setting the 海角社区官网record for warmest April 29 on Environment Canada鈥檚 records since 1942.
Southern Ontario and the Greater 海角社区官网Area fought off the strong winds as well, which caused some power outages throughout the region.
Hamilton Mayor Andrea Horwath was taken to hospital after she fell outside City Hall during the 鈥渆xtremely windy conditions,鈥 according to a statement from her office. She suffered a multiple injuries including a broken wrist which required surgery while an elbow fracture and leg injury were being assessed.
Another woman was seriously injured in 海角社区官网after a large tree branch fell on her and a 10-year-old girl near Tuesday afternoon when strong winds were reported. The woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, which were later downgraded to non-life-threatening.

The weather even hit hockey fans watching the latest bout of the Battle of Ontario outside at Maple Leafs square.
Scotiabank Arena briefly asked fans to exit the square and head for shelter on Tuesday before the crowd was allowed to re-gather outside the stadium half an hour later.聽
The arena has not announced any changes to Thursday’s tailgate for the Game 6 tilt between the Maple Leafs and the Senators.聽

Fog patches will develop overnight but dissipate in the morning with winds gusting to 40 kilometres per hour. The rain could keep rolling into Friday, which has a 30 per cent chance of showers all day.聽
Temperatures will rise up to a high of 18 C during the day before hitting a nighttime low of 7 C.
There is a 30 per cent chance of showers during the day Saturday, cloudy periods at night. There is a high of 13 C and a low of 6 C.
The sun will finally break free on Sunday as the city gets hit with a high of 14 C. Some cloudy periods will come in the evening with a 30 per cent chance of rain. Temperatures will drop to a low of 9 C.
