Officers initially said a pedestrian was struck by the drivers of two vehicles and suffered serious injuries . Police later said in an update that the pedestrian had been pronounced dead at the scene.

Neither of the drivers remained at the scene. The vehicles are described as a white vehicle heading northbound on Birchmount Road and a black vehicle driving south on Birchmount Road.

Police were at the scene investigating and have closed Birchmount Road between Foxridge Drive and Anaconda Avenue.
