Key witness in FBI cocaine case against Canadian ex-Olympian Ryan Wedding is assassinated in Colombia

Ryan Wedding has been named as the head of an international drug conspiracy. He earlier competed for Canada in the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics in 2002.


A confidential witness central to the FBI investigation into a Canadian former Olympic snowboarder accused of running a murderous cross-border drug trafficking conspiracy has been killed in an apparent assassination in Colombia, the Star has learned.

The witness, who has not been identified in court documents, helped investigators dismantle a transnational drug trafficking operation allegedly led by ex-Olympian Ryan Wedding, and was expected to testify at trial in the United States.
