Some major overnight closures could be coming to the Don Valley Parkway and Gardiner Expressway this month according to a .
The proposal would authorize dozens of temporary lane closures as Metrolinx continues construction work on the Ontario Line.
If approved, some closures could come into effect as soon as May 26.
If approved by the executive committee next week, city council will decide whether or not to move ahead with the closures later this month.Â
Here are the suggested closures that could affect travel in the coming weeks:
Many of the suggested closures would be in place on certain nights from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., beginning May 26 and could last until June 28.Â
The DVP’s southbound inside lane and adjacent pavement shoulder would be closed for 350 metres north of Gerrard Street and the DVP-Gardiner off-ramp as crews install monitoring and lighting equipment for the Lower Don Bridge portion of the Ontario Line. The southbound outside lane would also be closed between 30 metres north of Queen Street and the DVP-Gardiner on-ramp.
The DVP’s southbound middle lane would be closed between 165 metres south of Gerrard Street and the DVP-Gardiner on-ramp.
All of the DVP’s northbound lanes would be closed between the DVP-Gardiner off-ramp and 100 metres south of Eastern Avenue.
The north- and southbound lanes of the Don Roadway could be closed between Lake Shore Boulevard East and the DVP.
If approved, the Metrolinx contractor will only be able to implement one temporary directional closure per night on the DVP between 350 metres north of Gerrard Street and the DVP-Gardiner off-ramp.
The eastbound off-ramp between the DVP and Gardiner would also be subject to closures.Â
On the Gardiner, the eastbound inside lane would be closed beginning 90 metres west of Rees Street and extending to the DVP-Gardiner off-ramp. Closures on the eastbound on-ramp between Rees Street and the Gardiner are also on the table.
The eastbound middle lane of the Gardiner would be closed between 80 metres east of Lower Simcoe Street and the DVP-Gardiner off-ramp.
The Bay Street-Gardiner eastbound on-ramp could be closed along with the eastbound outside lane beginning 110 metres west of Bay Street and extending to the DVP-Gardiner off-ramp.
Beginning on May 31 and possibly extending until the end of September, the northbound middle and outside lanes of the DVP along with the adjacent shoulder would be closed between 600 metres south of Beechwood Drive and 350 metres north of Leaside Bridge.
