Hockey fans erupted in shouts of joy late Thursday night as Canada beat their U.S. arch rivals in overtime to clinch the 4-Nations Face-Off championship.
鈥淚t鈥檚 crazy bro!鈥 said Azvin Mohan, 19, at Real Sports bar outside Scotiabank Arena, as the big win sunk in.
鈥淲e showed America we own hockey. It鈥檚 our game!鈥

Mohan said the 3-2 overtime win, with a goal from Connor McDavid, brought back memories of Canada鈥檚 famous victory over Team U.S.A. in the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Although Canada lost to the Americans earlier in round-robin play at the 4 Nations tournament, Mohan said the outcome Thursday was 鈥渘ever in doubt.鈥
鈥淭hey thought they beat us one time, it was over. No, we鈥檙e coming back, we still own this game,鈥 he said
鈥淓lated, man. Real happy,鈥 Team Canada fan Callum Ealden said, describing his feelings as he looked out over the crowd in the massive bar.
He said he was there with friends from work, including his bosses.
鈥淚鈥檓 going to try to convince them to take the day off tomorrow and celebrate.鈥
The win was extra sweet for Dylan Hatt, Hannah Vidito and Halle Smith, who were in town from Halifax and watched their fellow Nova Scotian Sidney Crosby lift the trophy.
鈥淚t鈥檚 a really big deal for Nova Scotians,鈥 Vidito said.
Hatt admitted he was getting nervous as the game went on that Canada might not pull out a win, but seeing them score in overtime felt 鈥渁bsolutely electric.鈥
