MLSE president Keith Pelley on state of the Maple Leafs, Brendan Shanahan’s departure

After deciding not to renew Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan鈥檚 contract, MLSE president and CEO Keith Pelley will speak to the media on Friday.

In a statement released Thursday afternoon, MLSE president Keith Pelley said that the “franchise will be forever grateful for” Brendan Shanahan’s contributions to the Maple Leafs.


A day after announcing the organization鈥檚 intent to part ways with聽Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment president and CEO Keith Pelley will speak to the media at Scotiabank Arena on Friday at 1 p.m.

The decision ended Shanahan鈥檚 11-year tenure atop the Leafs鈥 hierarchy. Shanahan said in a statement that while he鈥檚 proud of the team鈥檚 rebuild, 鈥渦ltimately, I came here to help win the Stanley Cup, and we did not.鈥
