Maple Leafs sign goalie Dennis Hildeby to three-year deal

Hildeby provided reliable backup goaltending whenever one of the Leafs’ top goalies — Joseph Woll or Anthony Stolarz — were injured last season.

The Maple Leafs have retained their Hildebeast.

Supersized goalie Dennis Hildeby signed a three-year deal with the Leafs that carries an average annual value of $841,667 (U.S.) at the NHL level. The first two years of the deal are a two-way contract, meaning he will get paid less if he is in the AHL, where players typically get paid about 10 per cent of their NHL deals. The third year is one-way, guaranteed at the full NHL price.
