FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.鈥擶hat’s old is new again as Pontus Holmberg and Calle J盲rnkrok are expected to return to the Maple Leafs lineup for tonight’s Game 6聽against the Florida Panthers after being scratched Game 5.
鈥淲e’ve played good hockey with the lineup we have tonight,鈥 said Leafs coach Craig Berube.
Nick Robertson and David K盲mpf, who got into Game 5, will be scratched.
It will be the same lineup that the Leafs had used since the third game of the first round.
It wasn鈥檛 a death blow, but the Maple Leafs鈥 humiliating 6-1 loss to the Panthers on Wednesday certainly left another 海角社区官网hockey season wh…
Staying together
The lines at the morning skate had a familiar feel. Berube said he thought about breaking up his two biggest stars 鈥 Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner聽鈥 but had them together on a line with Matthew Knies.
鈥淭hese guys have been a combo for a long time and they’ve had a lot of success,鈥 said Berube. 鈥淪o I trust them. I believe in them.鈥
Marner has one goal this series, while and Matthews has yet to score in the second round.
鈥淥f course you want to score, you want to do that,鈥 said Matthews. 鈥淕etting opportunities, it’s on me to capitalize on them. I’m going to continue to shoot, continue to compete out there and work and do the little things to the best of my ability. And when those opportunities come, I’m just going to keep shooting and keep believing that the next one’s going in.
Brad Marchand, the noted Leaf killer now with the Panthers, didn’t think Game 5 was as lopsided as the 6-1 score indicated, saying his team benefited from bounces the Leafs didn’t get. He didn’t expect any momentum to carry over. He did expect the Leafs to be better.
鈥淚f anything, it’s going to make them hungrier to have a bounce back game and to prove a lot of people wrong, which is a very dangerous combination,鈥 said Marchand. 鈥淲e have to bring our best game.鈥
