FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (AP) 鈥 When the U.S. needed a spark, Cameron Young delivered.

The New York native, playing about an hour’s drive from where he grew up, sank five birdies in his debut Friday as he and Justin Thomas beat Europe鈥檚 Rasmus H酶jgaard and Ludvig 脜berg 6 and 5. Young ended the match with a birdie on the par 5 13th hole.
