Yesavage made seven starts at low-A Dunedin before being moved to high-A Vancouver where he dominated, posting a 1.53 ERA in four starts with an eye-popping 33 strikeouts in just 17 1/3 innings.聽

Sent to Double-A New Hampshire, the Pennsylvania native made seven starts, including a perfect four-inning outing on July 26 in which he struck out five, including the first four batters he faced.

At the three levels combined, Yesavage posted a 3.01 ERA with 134 strikeouts against 30 walks in 80 2/3 innings. Opponents hit just .160 against him, with a .241 on-base percentage.

In his final outing before moving to Triple-A, Yesavage made his first career relief appearance, entering the game in the third inning and throwing five innings, allowing two runs on four hits with no walks and nine strikeouts.

That appearance hinted at what the Jays could be looking for from their shiny new toy in the major leagues, perhaps as soon as next month.

With three straight bullpen blowups in Los Angeles over weekend, the last one salvaged by Mason Fluharty’s first career save, the Jays relief corps is 18th in the majors with a 4.06 ERA. Their 19 blown saves are the eighth-highest total.
