There were times this year that Max Pacioretty looked like yet another of the aging vets that the Leafs tried to graft to this team: your Patrick Marleau, Joe Thornton, Jason Spezza role, basically. (Oddly, the guys the Leafs brought in to help the young guys learn to win had not, in the Stanley Cup sense, won.)

There were times this year that Max Pacioretty looked like yet another of the aging vets that the Leafs tried to graft to this team: your Patrick Marleau, Joe Thornton, Jason Spezza role, basically. (Oddly, the guys the Leafs brought in to help the young guys learn to win had not, in the Stanley Cup sense, won.)

Sometimes, he looked his age, and he’s smart enough to know it. Well, he’s on his way to a better playoff impact than any of his grizzled-dog predecessors. 1-1 after one period.
