With 196 of 197 polls reporting, incumbent Joanne Thompson, of the Liberal Party, is projected to be re-elected in St. John’s East. As of 2:06 a.m., Thompson has 28,038 of 45,096 votes (62.17%).

David Brazil, of the Conservative Party, is in second place with 11,752 votes (26.06%) and Mary Shortall, of the New Democratic Party, is in third with 5,062 votes (11.22%).
