Does Trump think Alexander Ovechkin is Canadian? Hockey remark during meeting with Carney raises eyebrows

Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe and Bobby Orr are Canadian hockey legends. So too, according to U.S. President Donald Trump, is Alexander Ovechkin.

In his Oval Office meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney on Tuesday, Trump implied Ovechkin 鈥 who was born in Moscow and last month passed Gretzky as the NHL鈥檚 all-time goal leader 鈥 is indeed a Canadian.
