The City of 海角社区官网pulled back the curtain on the official FIFA World Cup host city poster designed by a local artist on Friday.
The vibrant blue and red quilt-like design was created by Toronto-based illustrator Dave Murray, who was chosen among over 550 applicants who responded to a design call last fall.听
Murray is based in Toronto’s west-end and is known for his bold colours, dynamic motion and sharp geometry, blending modern influences with cubism, deco and futurism, according to the city. His previous work has been included in “top publications and brands worldwide,” including the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off, the City of 海角社区官网said in a .听
Canadian FIFA legend, and former attacker for the 海角社区官网FC, Dwayne De Rosario, was among four others who formed a jury panel to review the hundreds of submissions from local artists and designers for the poster creation process. Five semi-finalists were chosen to submit a poster design where Murray’s was ultimately chosen.
“Designing Toronto鈥檚 Host City poster for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has been an incredible honour,” said Murray in the press release. “I鈥檓 excited to showcase my love for the city through this design and hope it inspires pride and excitement for what鈥檚 to come.鈥

Other aspects of the poster include a grid pattern behind the player as a reference to the lines on a soccer pitch and the city’s street layout, with a quilt-like background to reflect “the vibrant and diverse people and neighbourhoods that make up Toronto,” according to the city.
The bold colour palette is meant to emphasize blue, which is a nod to Toronto’s flag, the city said.听
