Defence argues driver blacked out before Parkside Drive crash that killed two people

鈥淭ragic鈥 2021 collision was a result of Artur Kotula losing consciousness while speeding in a 50 km/h zone, not a criminal act, his lawyer argued in Superior Court on Friday.

A chain-reaction car crash that left two people dead on Parkside Drive three years ago was the “tragic”聽result of a loss of consciousness suffered by driver Artur Kotula 鈥 not any criminal act, his defence lawyer said in closing arguments in court on Friday.聽

Kotula, 41, has pleaded not guilty to two charges of dangerous driving causing death or bodily harm, for the Oct. 12, 2021 crash.
