Joe Rogan says he won’t be going to Canada for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 315 later this spring because he doesn’t visit the country anymore.Ìý
Rogan, who is widely known for his popular, but controversial “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, has been a colour commentator and interviewer for UFC since 1997. But he says he’ll forgo UFC 315 on May 10, featuring the headline welterweight championship between Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena, because it’s set to take place in Montreal.Ìý

“I won’t be there. I don’t go to Canada anymore, I don’t. I’d rather go to Russia,” Rogan said .Ìý

Rogan’s views could be linked to his support for U.S. President Donald Trump, whose recent on-again, off-again tariff threats on Canadian imports have sparked a trade war. Earlier in the podcast, he accused Canada’s government of being “terrible” and that “the new guy is more of the same,” referring to Liberal Leader Mark Carney, who was sworn in as Canada’s 24th prime minister after Justin Trudeau’s resignation on March 9.Ìý
Rogan also joked about Trump’s repeated taunts for Canada to become the “51st state,” acknowledging that “it’s never going to happen.”
“That’s so crazy, asked them to be the 51st state. I had a conversation with Trump about it. He goes, ‘I started calling him Governor Trudeau, just for fun, but a lot of people are saying it’s a good idea. Maybe it is a good idea? ’”
This is the not the first time that Rogan has taken aim at the Canadian government on his podcast. In early 2022, Rogan expressed his support for the truckers who opposed COVID-19 vaccine mandates during the Canadian “Freedom Convoy” protest in early 2022.

“They got a squirrelly system up there, and they keep losing rights, left and right,” said Rogan, who has been criticized for promoting conspiracy theories and COVID-19 misinformation. “What they did during the whole trucker convoy thing was nuts. Like full-on, communist bulls—t.”Â
Rogan has hosted a range of celebrity guests on his show, including Tesla chief executive and senior White House adviser Elon Musk, whistleblower Edward Snowden, astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, Sen. Bernie Sanders, and Trump.
“The Canadian people are awesome,” said Rogan in the Saturday podcast. “They’re so nice and polite in Canada … till they’re not.”
