The province announced a proposal for a new provincial park near Uxbridge on Saturday 鈥 Earth Day 鈥 as an environmental group slammed the government鈥檚 plan to develop the nearby 鈥渃rown jewel鈥 of Ontario鈥檚 Greenbelt lands.

The park in Uxbridge 鈥渨ould be a major step forward for conservation and biodiversity protection in Ontario,鈥 said Environment Minister David Piccini in a news release.
