2024 saw average rents fall for the first time since the pandemic, report says

Canada saw its first annual rent decrease since the pandemic, with º£½ÇÉçÇø¹ÙÍørents falling 7.1%. The national average dropped 3.2% to $2,109, though rents remain 16.8% higher than five years ago.

In December, the average asking rent for all residential property types in Canada hit a 17-month low, falling by 3.2 per cent from last year to $2,109. 


2024 saw average rents fall in Canada for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020, when rents fell 5.4 per cent, with º£½ÇÉçÇø¹ÙÍøseeing a 7.1 per cent decrease, a national rent report shows.

In December, the average asking rent for all residential property types in Canada hit a 17-month low, falling by 3.2 per cent from last year to $2,109.
