Botox, fillers and plastic surgery have seen a boom in recent years. But as the procedures grow in popularity, some celebrities are opening up about the hardships they鈥檝e experienced and the lessons they鈥檝e learned in the aftermath.
During the pandemic, demand for plastic surgery and non-surgical cosmetic procedures soared in Canada: worrying critics that some patients were rushing into the procedures due to body image issues that worsened, in part, due to the use of social media and video conferencing at a time when people had more time at home to compare themselves to filtered images of others.
Research shows this is especially true for younger people. According to an study published in February, 75 per cent of U.S. surgeons reported a spike in clients under 30 in 2022.
Here鈥檚 a look at the good, the bad and the ugly for some Hollywood stars.
Ariana Grande said she鈥檚 had 鈥渁 ton of lip fillers鈥
In her Vogue posted to YouTube last week, Grande shared that she has had 鈥渁 ton of lip fillers over the years and Botox,鈥 but now she wants to see herself age naturally.
鈥淚 stopped in 2018 because I just felt so, too much. I just felt like hiding, you know?鈥 she said. 鈥淔or a long time, beauty was about hiding for me and now I feel like maybe it鈥檚 not.鈥
Grande added in the video that she stopped getting fillers and Botox because she wanted to see her 鈥渨ell-earned cry lines and smile lines.鈥
鈥淚 hope my smile lines get deeper and deeper and I laugh more and more. And I just think aging is like such a 鈥 it can be such a beautiful thing.

Kylie Jenner would be 鈥渉eartbroken鈥 if Stormi got plastic surgery

In conversation with her friend Stassie Karanikolaou, Jenner revealed that she got the surgery done at 19, shortly before her unexpected pregnancy with her daughter, Stormi.
Jenner added that she now appreciates her natural body and wished she 鈥渘ever got them done to begin with.鈥
鈥淚 have a daughter. I would be heartbroken if she wanted to get her body done at 19,鈥 Jenner said. 鈥淪he鈥檚 the most beautiful thing ever. I want to be the best mom and the best example for her. I wish I could be her and do it all again because I wouldn鈥檛 touch anything.鈥
Kourtney Kardashian regrets breast implants
Kylie Jenner鈥檚 big sister Kourtney Kardashian has previously expressed similar sentiments. In 2011, Kourtney said she regretted getting breast implants at 22.
鈥淚 had my boobs done, but if I could go back I wouldn鈥檛 have done it. I was so cute before,鈥 .
鈥淚鈥檝e realized that I was made to look a certain way and I鈥檓 considering removing them.鈥
Bella Hadid got a nose job at 14
In 2022, supermodel Bella Hadid told that she regrets the nose job she got when she was just 14.
鈥淚 wish I had kept the nose of my ancestors,鈥 said Hadid, who has Palestinian roots. 鈥淚 think I would have grown into it.鈥
Jamie Lee Curtis on plastic surgery and opioid addiction
Jamie Lee Curtis has shared two major concerns about plastic surgery, including a health issue she experienced firsthand.
鈥淭he current trend of fillers and procedures, and this obsession with filtering, and the things that we do to adjust our appearance on Zoom are wiping out generations of beauty,鈥 she told in a 2021 interview.
In 2018, the actor also opened up to about a plastic surgery recovery process that spiralled into a decade-long opioid addiction. After going under the knife in 1989 for a minor cosmetic procedure on her 鈥渉ereditary puffy eyes,鈥 she was prescribed painkillers and developed a Vicodin addiction.
鈥淚 tried plastic surgery and it didn鈥檛 work. It got me addicted to Vicodin. I鈥檓 22 years sober now,鈥 she said.
Ashley Tisdale describes health issues after surgery
In a 2020 post, Ashley Tisdale shared that she decided to have her breast implants removed due to health issues that she believed were a result of the procedure she got years before.
鈥淧rior to the surgery, I constantly felt my body was less than, and thought this change would make me feel more whole and more secure about myself. And for a short period of time 鈥 it did,鈥 the actor wrote.
鈥淏ut little by little I began struggling with minor health issues that just were not adding up, food sensitivities as well as gut issues,鈥 she continued.
The actor added that the journey 鈥渉as been one of growth, self-discovery, self-acceptance and, most importantly, self-love.鈥
Chrissy Teigen decided to remove breast implants
Model Chrissy Teigen also opted to have her breast implants removed in 2020, noting at the time that the decision was 鈥渘o biggie.鈥

Courtney Cox was 鈥渓ayered鈥 in filler
鈥淔riends鈥 star Courtney Cox opened up about her past use of filler in a 2017 interview and shared that she had since had them all dissolved, now 鈥渁s natural as I can be.鈥
She divulged to that doctors would suggest she get 鈥渁 little injection here or filler there鈥 until she was 鈥渓ayered and layered and layered鈥 鈥 something she hadn鈥檛 realized at the time because the procedures occurred gradually.
鈥淚 feel better because I look like myself. I think that I now look more like the person that I was,鈥 she said. 鈥淚 hope I do.
鈥淭hings are going to change. Everything鈥檚 going to drop. I was trying to make it not drop, but that made me look fake,鈥 she added. 鈥淵ou need movement in your face, especially if you have thin skin like I do. Those aren鈥檛 wrinkles, they鈥檙e smile lines.
